"Queremos Justicia: How We Shut Down Berks" is a bilingual art exhibit that tells the history of how the Shut Down Berks Coalition closed the Berks County Detention Center through the art made for the campaign.

On January 21st, 2023, after eights years of active campaigning, the Shut Down Berks Coalition celebrated the closure the Berks County Detention Center, a prison that held immigrant families, then in it's final year of operation immigrant women. Throughout the campaign art played an invaluable role in education, mobilization and community building. In the exhibit the audience will learn about the organizing strategy of the coalition, how artists supported the campaign and most importantly, view the art and video messages of those who were directly impacted and led the campaign, the families who were incarcerated in the Berks County Detention Center.
